Petts Wood Local Information
Petts Wood is a village in the London Borough of Bromley. The name
first appeared in the year 1577 in the form of a family of ship
builders, the Pett family. The daylight inn in Petts Wood was named
in honor of William Willett who was a campaigner for Daylight Savings
Time and lived in the nearby town of Chislehurst for a large part
of his life.
The village of Petts Wood also has a pub named The Sovereign of
the Seas. The city is connected by a railway station which is located
between the towns of Bickley and Orpington. Petts Wood has a splendid
park known as the Jubilee Country Park which serves as a recreational
ground for both residents and visitors alike. The park is situated
towards the northwest of the shopping area and is also home to various
rare and endangered species.
Most of the town was built in the early 20th century as a high
quality estate in a rural setting. The area sustained heavy bombing
during WW2 because of its proximity to an important railway junction.
Charles de Gaulle, the former President of France, lived in Petts
Wood, for part of the Second World War.
Whether you are in Petts Wood for business or pleasure or travelling
anywhere else in Britain the Car Hire Company guarantees that your
