Colliers Wood can be found in the London borough of Merton, and old maps show that the ‘wood’ in Colliers Wood disappeared sometime between 1870 and 1890.

Colliers Wood is home to the somewhat infamous ‘Colliers Wood Tower’. It actually has several names – originally it was the ‘Lyon Tower’, then the ‘Vortex Tower’, ‘Brown and Root Tower’, ‘The Ugliest Building in London’ (after a 2006 BBC poll, where over half the people who responded voted for it, describing it as ‘a true monstrosity’ and ‘a waste of space’) and ‘One of the Ugliest Buildings in the UK’ (2005 poll by Channel 4). During its construction, while building the third floor, a mistake was discovered and the tower had to be demolished and begun again.

From the ugliest building in London, take your van hire to the nearby Deen City Farm. An oasis in the middle of the city, Deen City Farm is home to usual farm animals as well as alpacas and peacocks, and you can horse ride there as well.
