A village in Southern Oxfordshire, Woodcote is just six miles North West of Reading and 14 miles South of Oxford. Between the Goring Road and the A4074, Woodcote is ideally placed for easy access around the surrounding areas.

Woodcote is the highest point on the South Chilterns and is centred on a pretty village green. Surrounded by beautiful countryside offering amazing views and pretty scenery, Woodcote and the outskirts of it have plenty of walks and bridle paths.

First documented in 1109, Woodcote means cottage in the wood and is believed to have been around for thousands of years. Artifacts, including a 5,000 year old polished hand axe and a carved stone head dating to 1500 BC have been found in the village.

Woodcote was once a gypsy settlement and there is an old gypsy burial ground in the village following traditions by the dead being buried on high ground.

Every year Woodcote hosts a vintage and steam transport and ale festival with all the proceeds going to local charities and organisations, and the festival has raised more than £300,000 over the years.
