Hayes is a located in London Borough of Hillingdon. It was basically an agricultural town in the early nineteenth century. However with the arrival of Great Western Railway and Grand Junction Canal in the early nineteenth century during its industrial revolution created the town into a successful industrial unit.

From the early nineteenth century revolution Hayes has never looked back and has progressed with leaps and bounds. Some of the initial industries which established themselves in Hayes were Gramophone Company which was also known as His Master's Voice and latterly as EMI.

In this town in late 1930’s Godfrey Hounsfield created computed tomography (CT) scanner for which he won the Nobel Prize in the year 1979. The Central Research Laboratories which was established by Isaac Shoenberg developed 405-line electronic television.

During the World War years, Hayes saw the manufacturing of aircrafts through EMI Company. The need of a runway led to the creation of Heathrow airport which was taken over by the Ministry if Aviation during World War II.

Hayes also saw the major coffee and chocolate giant Nestle which operated as the UK headquarters from Hayes.

Some famous personalities who lived in Hayes were the famous writer George Orwell, famous footballer Glenn Hoodle, BBC director–general Greg Dyke, the members of seventies rock band Sweet lived in Hayes. The most recent personality which lives in Hayes is Anne Marie Duff.
