Acton is a suburb of London and is located over two boroughs – East Acton is in Hammersmith and Fullham, while the rest and majority of Acton lies in Ealing. Hundreds of years ago there was a road from London and Oxford and along this road were several inns, where weary travellers would rest. Acton also lies on this road, the modern day Uxbridge Road, and some of the inns are still around. The main road between London and Oxford is now the A40 dual carriageway.

For fans of Monty Python, the ‘Bicycle Repair Man’ sketch was filmed on Churchfield Road. The disused Acton Power Station was host to filming for the movies ‘Aliens’ and ‘Batman’.
