History of Stoneleigh

The town of Stoneleigh sits in the middle of Epsom and Ewell in Surrey. The two key areas are Stoneleigh Station and Stoneleigh Broadway. Before the 1930’s a lot of the area was just bare fields. Following this period mass development started in the way of residential semi detached houses. St John The Baptist Church was also built around this time with its distinctive red brick.

During the 17th Century Stonleigh was part of the park land that made up the Nonsuch palace Estate. In1731 the Estate was sold off and the park area was divided into farmland.
