The name Kilburn means ‘church by the stream’, this is referring to the Westbourne River, a small part of which is in Westminster, but most of it now flows underground.

One of the main places to go to in Kilburn is The Tricycle Theatre; it has a gallery, a cinema and a theatre. The Tricycle Theatre can be found on High Road and is famed for staging politically significant court cases. It is also famous for staging a production about Guantanamo Bay. Kilburn Grange Park is an open space covering about eight acres and it has tennis courts and a children’s playground.
