Shepperton Local Information

Shepperton is located in north-west Surrey, in the Borough of Spelthorne. It derives its name from 'Shepherds Town' and one of the town's older roads is called Sheep Walk. The original village was built around the church square and the St. Nicholas Church, was built in 1614. The village expanded to the north due to the construction of the railway station.

The town is most famous as the home of Shepperton film studios. The studios began producing films in the early 1930’s. They merged with Pinewood Studios in 2002 but the two companies have retained their individual identities. Many of the special effects for the “Da Vinci Code’ were created at Shepperton.
