The Walnuts Shopping Centre is next to the high street and offers a large range of shops. A market is in-situ outside Orpington College for three days per week. Currently a large Tesco’s is being constructed where the old multi-storey car park once was. The store is due to open in 2009/10. The council has installed many more parking meters in the surrounding area to compensate for the loss of car parking to the multi storey car park being demolished. Many local businesses have been forced to leave Orpington due to the lack of parking available.

In Orpington also is the Walnuts Leisure Centre which houses a six lane swimming pool and it has a swimming club named the Orpington Ojays. The swimming club competes and national, county and district levels. Other facilities available at the leisure centre are badminton, trampolining, basketball and fitness classes.

There are two other leisure centre situated in Orpington one is located at Priory School and houses a floodlit synthetic pitch for hockey and football, three outdoor tennis courts, two netball courts, four outdoor cricket nets and a sports hall which incorporates a gym and fitness suite with a dance studio. There is also a private called Dragons Health Club.
