Car Hire
Esher - London
When it comes to car hire, The Car Hire Co is a
company you can rely on to provide you with your vehicle requirements.
Esher is a lovely town to discover in your hire car. It lies in
the borough of Elmbridge close to the River Mole. Much of the area
is suburban. It has its own railway station which can be found on
the Portsmouth Road. Trains travel on down to Clapham Junction and
beyond.
During the reign of Henry VIII, Esher was appointed a hunting ground
for the King and his courtiers. During Queen Victoria’s reign
Claremont Mansion was used as place for the Queen to sometimes reside
at. It was also lived in by Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg until
he went on to become King of Belgium. Following the French revolution
of 1848 King Louis-Philippe and Queen Marie-Amelie also sought refuge
at the house upon the request of Queen Victoria.
In the swinging sixties the very famous George Harrison, one of
the fab four bought a house in Esher. It was called Kinfauns. The
rest of the Beatles clan were frequent visitors, hanging out in
the basic makeshift recording studio.
The famous Sandown park racecourse can also be found close to Esher’s
station. It is still used as a racecourse during the racing season.
The very popular Esher College sits on Weston Geen Road. It is
a purpose built building and offers a wide variety of courses to
sixth formers of 16 to 19 year olds. The college is very popular
and oversubscribed. Applicants must apply early in order to get
the course that they want.
Esher also has some extremely desirable homes. A three bedroomed
semi detached house in the more desirable roads near the station
could cost you in the region of £600,000. As you drive by
in your car hire these attractive houses may attract your attention.
